To Poetry

Thank you so much for being a good friend,
Because your words and encouragement overshadowed my sins.
I appreciate and love your structure,
Because poetry is deep even without the nouns.
How can I express the joy I feel?
Because poetry is beautiful and one hundred percent real.
Thank you so much for opening my eyes,
And being the friend only God could provide.

interview with Thomas McRae

Danna: Tell us a little about yourself, Thomas?

Thomas: I’m a poet, author and writer. Born and raised in New York City with two wonderful parents and an older brother. I’ve been holding down the same city job for over 21 years in the New York City housing authority the emergency service department. I bought my very first co-op and I have no kids or wife, but I most certainly would love to have both. I’m back writing poetry and finding myself as a person.

Danna: Have you always been interested in poetry?

Thomas: Yes, since a kid I loved it but my brother wrote a beautiful poem for Mommy, and it touched the core of my soul to this very day.

Danna: Your poems in Lyrical Revelations vary from subject and tone such as love, spiritual and politics which topic interests you the most?

Thomas: I love writing different subjects because there is so much that needs to be addressed from love, politics and much more words are inspirational and powerful tools that should never be taken for granted or ignored.

Danna: Who is your favorite poet? And what poem of theirs inspires you the most?

Thomas: To be perfectly honest I don’t have a favorite poet it varies every day.

Danna: What other poetry projects are you working on? Anything we can keep an eye out for?

Thomas: Currently working on custom-made poetry merchandise such as coffee mugs, t-shirts and plaques. I’m shopping myself around and trying to get my mugs into stores, warehouses, gift shops, cafes and church stores. I’m also working on another book project with my old publishing company Eber and Wein Publishing. I’ve done most of my books with them and still have an amazing relationship with the entire publishing company and I have a great deal of respect and admiration for them all. I also want to shout out my friend Rachel she’s the Editor and Chief of Eber and Wein Publishing. She’s also the sweetest person God put on this Earth I hope when I find someone special, they are half as amazing and wonderful as her.

Danna: That was fun, Thomas. A huge thank you for sharing your poetry and entrepreneurial spirit and passions with us!

Thomas: Thank you very much for having me, I’m excited to be here and I’m honored to be a part of this extraordinary opportunity on your amazing blog.
