Guest Pop: Discover the Depths of Emotion in Anna Banasiak’s Poetic Works

I created Poetry Pop to provide a sanctuary for fellow poets—a place where we can read, learn, and grow together. It is a true honor when subscribers trust me with their work, and I’m thrilled to see that community spirit in action today. Please join me in welcoming back Polish poet and dedicated subscriber, Anna Banasiak, for this Guest Pop with a collection of her poetry.

“Anna’s poetry is written in the lyrical free verse form. With a delicate touch, she navigates the sacred landscapes of family—from the steady wisdom of a grandfather to the enduring heartbeat of a mother. These poems don’t just speak to the heart; they reside there. A beautiful, resonant exploration of what it means to love and be loved.” — Danna Smith, Poetry Pop

KEY

This apple tree has always had rich fruits
I still remember my grandfather with an apple in hand
I open with the key of imagination
a gate to the garden of dreams
this smell and taste of childhood
I felt and fondly remember
this apple tree no longer gives birth
I found the key to my garden
a new world I will open

MOTHER'S HANDS

You baked for me
the world
smelling of bread
of childhood
Your hands full
of memories
still
warm
from words and
emotions
stopped time
in my
poems

CAKES

with afternoon tea I come back
to the past
when you were here
we baked apples
with crumble
dog in the kitchen
fawned over you
the smell of baked cabbage
teased everyone
nicely
smelt this time

Eclipse

MOM
where are you
I’m afraid to be alone
with my shadow
come back, turn on the light
as before
I’ll cuddle you with a scarf
by the lamp
I’ll read
my poems
silence only moth in the jar
fights for life

WINTER MOMENTS

thoughts fly away
sorrows slowly flow

I‘m
sinking
in the snow

fluffy paths overwhelm me
with their gray
I close my eyes

white walls and insomnia
do not go away

THE FLAVORS OF LOVE

I'm your fantasy
lost at the desert of dreams
we're waiting here together
we'll search for the source
that will connect us
hungry for love
