In Remembrance: A Poem for My Mother

My sisters and I buried our mother on January 6th, four years ago. I posted this poem a few years back but wanted to share it with you again today in her remembrance. May she continue to rest in paradise.

Burial Day

January 6th,
Mom's burial day
circles around.

The grass
still shows its scars
like an old wound.

Three small flowerpots
sit side by grave side—
three daughters grieving.

Don't be sad,
rejoice
a long life lived.

She is with us
in a rushing river,
in a symphony of birdsong,
in the loving lines of a poem.

  1. Hmmm. I tried to leave a reply via my iPad, but it was giving me troubles. You might have one sitting somewhere waiting for approval. Or not. ??? Ugh.

This is such a lovely tribute to your mom! It is hard to lose our moms. Your poem is a wonderful way to remember her. Big hugs to you!
